That's awesome! Tell us, what interested you in this industry and why did you pick real estate as your career?

Pursuing a career in real estate was never a dream of mine, it more so found me! While pursuing my dream career of becoming a doctor, my grandfather became ill and I stepped into the role of being his full-time caregiver. While providing around-the-clock care for him for two years, I also stepped in to help manage his investment properties. I, unexpectedly, found myself captivated by the world of real estate which led me also to become a real estate investor and realtor. I am forever grateful for the unexpected path that has led me to where I am today and that I am able to continue the legacy of my grandfather through real estate.

Wow, that is so incredible! So, what were the first steps in creating your business?

After two years of navigating the real estate world as a solo agent, I noticed a gap in the Columbia, SC real estate market—a lack of bespoke service that catered to the selective client. I often shared my thoughts with my husband, and he also agreed that there was more to be offered to clients. We envisioned a company where true personalized service, attention to detail, deep local knowledge, and community would be the foundation of our business. After spending almost a decade working in collegiate athletics, he stepped away from his career to join me in creating The Tandem Group. It was a bold move, but we both felt a shared excitement for the possibilities ahead. As we navigated the challenges of starting a new business, we found strength in our partnership through my real estate expertise coupled with his skill in managing and improving operations. I’m grateful for that pivotal moment when we decided to take a chance in starting this company. The Tandem Group isn’t just a business; it’s a testament to our shared dreams and dedication to providing the highest level of service to the Columbia, SC real estate market.
